Maider Etxebarria, the mayor of Vitoria, will preside the Federal Committee
The PSE-EE retains Patxi López and Nora Abete in the Federal Executive Committee of the PSOE, while Aroa Jilete leaves, as Maider Etxebarria, the mayor of Vitoria, will take over the Federal Committee of the party.
According to sources from the Basque Socialists, the new Federal Executive of the PSOE, emerged from the Federal Committee held this Saturday in Madrid, will have one less representative than before, following the decision of parliamentarian Aroa Jilete to leave it to remain in the direction of the PSE-EE of Álava.
This decision has been made by Jilete due to the changes established to avoid duplicity of responsibilities in the direction organs of the PSOE.
The representative of the Basque socialists has decided to «prioritize» her work in the direction of the PSE-EE of Álava and resign from her position in the Federal Executive Committee as Secretary of Tourism.
However, the Councilor of Mobility and Sustainability of the Bilbao City Council, Nora Abete, will remain in charge of the Commerce and Consumption Secretariat of the Executive. Patxi López, a member by virtue of being the party’s spokesperson in Congress, will also remain in the new Executive.
MAIDER ETXEBARRIA
On the other hand, Maider Etxebarria, the mayor of Vitoria, will take over the Federal Committee of the PSOE, the party’s highest body between congresses. Etxebarria will remain in this position for a year, as stipulated in the party’s statutes, although the period could be extended.
The mayor of the capital of Álava has replaced Milagros Tolón as the president of the Federal Committee, who will now take charge of the Secretariat of Social Policies, Seniors, and Social Movements of the PSOE Executive.
