At the summer estate of Los Berrocales, Raimunda and her daughter, Acacia, are celebrating the girl’s engagement. After becoming a widow, Raimunda married Esteban, who is publicly rejected by Acacia. Unbeknownst to Raimunda, a very deep love has awakened between Acacia and Esteban, both of whom hide it behind a mask of hostility. The situation worsens when Esteban, aided by El Rubio, begins to get rid of all the men around Acacia, leading the townspeople to call her Malquerida.
A mother and a daughter. But also, two women at odds over the same obsession that dominates their lives. Is it possible to calm our feelings, tame them until they disappear? Or will there always be a crack through which passion will inevitably spill over? Malquerida emerges as a dry and brutal cry that binds us inexorably to our less rational essence. A story in which love, power, ambition, desire, and violence come together inevitably, like faces of the same coin that, when tossed in the air, may surprise us with its relentless verdict.
